Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra

The UK’S most popular pianist and bandleader, Jools Holland and his 18-piece, Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, featuring Gilson Lavis, and vocals from the wonderfully talented Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall, promise an outstanding night of entertainment.

Last time Jools made his 'day trip to Auckland' with the orchestra, those lucky enough to see the concert were treated to an incredible performance, described by some as so good it was like a 'religious experience'. Everyone that attended the show was spellbound from beginning to end and left wanting more. It was a huge treat to experience the sound of a polished big band comprising one of the world’s best blues pianists, an organist, drummer, three stunning female vocals, guitar, bass guitar, two tenor saxophones, two alto saxophones, baritone saxophone, three trumpets, and four trombones.

Until last year, Jools Holland was possibly more familiar to New Zealanders as a successful television presenter through regularly seeing him on his popular UK TV show, Later….with Jools Holland, on which he hosts many of the world’s greatest entertainers. We were less aware of the history of his own stellar career as a live entertainer dating back to his childhood. He could play the piano fluently by ear by the age of eight, formed his first successful band, Squeeze, in 1973 at the age of 15, which achieved meteoric international success, and later formed The Jools Holland Big Band in 1987 that has gradually metamorphosed into the current 18-piece Jools Holland & His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra.

Therefore, it’s not surprising that Jools is such a respected and accomplished musician and recording artist, who now, together with his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra enjoys huge popularity, dazzling audiences all over the world. Pacific Entertainment is privileged to be bringing Jools Holland & his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra back to Auckland for a further show, which should not be missed.
